The ‘Cyclone of Soul’ himself, Wolfgang Valbrun returns with new single Love Yourself, the third in a run of three which both completes and is the title track of his current EP. Born and brought up in NYC but now a transplant to Paris, the singer is the former frontman of avant-garde soul outfit Ephemerals who decided to strike out on his own during the pandemic. Love Yourself is chugging, big-ass soul affair opening with a bass keys piano riff before drums, organ and horns kick in and finds Valbrun ruminating on the need to love yourself before you love anyone else. It’s a hopeful message intended to give hope to the hopeless by encouraging them to accept their own flaws. Cue large gospel chorus as Wolf hollers for all he’s worth.
