Besides JB and Sly & The Family Stone, two of the biggest influences in the history of funk music must surely be the New Orleans sound of The Meters and the P-Funk experiments of George Clinton. Now imagine a track that combines late sixties/ early seventies New Orleans-style drum breaks, organs and horns with P-Funk guitars, synths, bass and vocals along with an additional sixteen bars from Main Source’s Large Professor – for such is Silver Skylarks’ follow-up to February’s Power Moves: new single Number One Set And Sound. Let the craziness commence! This cut is the title track of the outfit’s forthcoming debut album which comes with the Bobbito Garcia seal of approval and also features guest turns from Kool G Rap, Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada and Fila Fresh Crew’s The D.O.C. among others.
