Ahead of the release of Hometown Heroes’ Hometown Heroes EP comes the release of The Process. That’ll be a track on which the Heroes (a.k.a the dream team of Edo G, DJ Yoda and The Nextmen’s Brad Baloo, for it is they!) effortlessly show the youngers how this hip-hop thing is done. A mellow synth-laced beat finds our Ed slaying musical rivals, pissing on Confederate statues and dissing Karens all while still carrying actual cold cash money around. The kind of thing personnes d’un certain âge can bump while driving around the ‘hood without looking like they’re trying to get down with the kids and yet still preserve a modicum of dignity then? Could be. This one’s being marketed as ‘hip-hop-slash-dad-hop.’ ‘Dad-hop’?! Like ‘dad-rock’? Could be worse, I suppose. Like ‘trad-hop’ for example. Still – ‘true school’ anyone? The full Hometown Heroes EP follows on 10 May.
