Remember when you heard the latest Black Pumas LP and it just didn’t have quite the punchiness you were looking for? You could do a lot worse instead than check out Wolfgang Valbrun – and in particular his new single Almighty $$ which follows the tracks released off his Love Yourself LP at the tail end of last year and, like those tracks, will also feature on his forthcoming Flawed By Design long player. Almighty $$ is a heavy soul number that combines a gritty guitar sound with horns and Valbrun’s powerful voice pouring forth a powerful critique of mankind’s relationship with greenbacks. It might be a tad more uptempo to anything on the BP’s debut LP but it’s a kindred spirit to a cut like Fire. Props once again to the ‘Cyclone of Soul’!
