Mykal Rose, Subatomic Sound System and Hollie Cook follow their April release Get High with new one Happy Is The Man Who Finds Wisdom. Is the man happy though? I mean, isn’t it received – er – wisdom that ignorance is bliss? Maybe if you’re ignorant but you know you’re ignorant that almost makes you wise (to paraphrase a sample from the opening to 3rd Bass’s The Cactus Album – although didn’t Socrates say something along those lines too?) and that way you can be both a bit ignorant, a bit wise and have your cake and eat it? Well, it’s something to ponder as Black Uhuru’s original vocalist, Lee Perry’s former band and lovers’ rock heroine Hollie Cook go deep on a reggae riddim that boasts Ethio-music stylings around the edges. A full-length LP entitled, Rockin’ Like A Champion, drops at the end of the month.
