The digital might have been out for a minute but the current vinyl 7″ version of The Wax Preachers’ single Eugene’s Groove is still pretty fresh off the presses. MB regulars may remember the band appeared with a bang – not to mention a double instrumental funk 45 drop – three years ago and then – er – nothing since. At least until now. Enter current 45, Eugene’s Groove which switches up the dirty funk for the Afrobeats. Of course if you want something a little more traditionally funky, flip that bad boy over and – despite the Afro -ish horns vamp at the start – you get a slow and low funky blaxploitation style strut. And who’s going to argue about that?
