Recorded in an all-analog studio on new vinyl-centric Miami label Tiki Tumbao, The Swizzlas’ new 45 Double Dippin b/w Dippin Deux is exactly the kind of thing the monkey likes to hear about it! Drawing from the rich heritage of New Orleans and Miami funk, this outfit (a studio project led by label owner Travis Acker along with Tom Witek) delivers the stanky instrumental guitar-led funk lurch of Side A’s Double Dippin’ while heading in a livelier, jazz-funkier (but no less dirty) organ-led direction on the flip’s Dippin Deux. Pressed on dinked 45, this single follows the label’s first release – a latin boogaloo vinyl 7″ double-header from Tony & The Kings which is also well worth your time. A label to watch.
