THE FUNK FURY: Like (2016)

funk-fury-like-epFuelled perhaps by all that rage, The Funk Fury dares to explore the twilight zone of breakbeat house on the opening title track to his Like EP which employs the sort of synths typical of the devil’s music to vie with chipmunk vocal samples over rolling drums. This is followed by Birdy where synth-powered 80s electro business plays out over heavier drums while the buzzsaw bass and drum crunch of Baw Baw are restrained from full-on aural assault by soothing floaty chords from, you guessed it, a synth. Imagine Jan Hammer being poured over the sonic turbulence of ghetto funk and you’ll be ball-park.
