SOUL VACCINATORS: What’s Good/ Gator Bait (Vinyl 7″)

Here’s a fresh bit of instrumental soul for your ears – the new What’s Good b/w Gator Bait vinyl 7″ brought to you by Soul Vaccinators from Miami. At the core of the band are drummer Eddie Garcia Jr. and guitarist Addison Rifkind, both of whom have performed and recorded with Scone Cash Players. The release is out on rising label Tiki Tumbao who also brought you the Swizzlas funk 45 earlier in the year. For A-side What’s Good, expect a soul-jazzy groove shot through with both Rhodes piano and gritty guitar while the B-side is, of course, a cover of The Gaturs New Orleans funk classic – here given a more jazzy turn with the Rifkind soloing for all he’s worth. Perhaps a video for the A-side? Shot in Biscayne Bay’s Stiltsville through a grainy retro filter? Yep, that should do it.
(Out now on Tiki Tumbao)
