SLICK RICK: Children’s Story (RHYTHM SCHOLAR 70s True Crime Streetmix) Free Download

[RATING: 5] Now here’s a little something that needs to be heard – a stupid fresh remix of Slick Rick’s cautionary gangster tale Children’s Story by master remixer Rhythm Scholar. The original is an ’88 classic which despite the accelerating use of samples at the time, still featured drum machine beats and a replayed bassline from Bob James’ Nautilus. Rhythm Scholar on the other hand re-imagines those rhymes over sampled drums and actual samples from Nautilus (not to mention Dexter Wansel, Lyn Collins and Chicago Gangsters) with the result being more fluid and – well – more slick. An interesting counterpoint to the street-gritty original and moreover a dancefloor banger with a top new video by UK artist Tim Baker. Did I mention it’s free too? No? It is. Cop it HERE in ‘True Crime Streetmix’, ‘Radiomix’ and ‘Knockapella’ forms.
