As noted when the title track and Not Today from this EP appeared on Toxic Funk 13 for Breakbeat Paradise in January this year, what Jayl Funk essentially pulls off is the transmutation of house music’s base metal into party breakbeat niceness. It sounds like he’s tripled the trick here with the addition of – Feel The Rhythm – which features a female vocal hook that wouldn’t surprise anyone if it originated on a turn-of-the-millenium pop-house hit. Once again however, the hands of JF ensure the rhythm is funky and nobody’s going to complain if some Latin-style horns get chucked in the blender too. The fourth and final cut is Time To Roll which alternates jazz-funky horn-led instrumental sections with some very In Deep-ish rap-led verses.
