SKEEWIFF: Wack Wack

If you’ve been paying attention this year, you’ll know that Jalapeno Records founders and party breaks legends Skeewiff have been steadily releasing a string of singles covering the sort of tracks that have inspired a highly successful party breakbeat-production career now over two decades deep. And the reason they’ve been doing this is because it forms the long-lead run-up to the release of a full LP which collects all said covers next year. As it pans out, they had one more single in them and it’s this – their take on Young Holt Unlimited’s classic mod floor-filler Wack Wack. As a cover, this one plays it pretty straight maintaining the Latin influences of the original – i.e. the nods to bossa-nova – but with a clearer more refined overall sound that certainly won’t have any problem prompting large crowds to indulge in a shimmy.
