LEYGO: The Funka EP (2014)

After a prolonged hunka in his production bunka he’s back with The Funka. That’ll be four new ghetto funky bricks from Leygo then as the Nottingham-based Relative Dimensions artist makes a significant contribution to the overall sense that he’s signed to a label as much to be reckoned with as Scour or Ghetto Funk. There’s Charles Wright, Wayne Smith, Sly Stone and somebody’s version (or possibly more than one version) of Billy Joe Royal’s ‘made-famous-by-Deep-Purple’ number Hush firmly embedded amid the beats at varying degrees of discernibility. Should inspire the yout’ to dance harda and get drunka…
(Out 13 January on Relative Dimensions)
