JIMI NEEDLES: Throw Ya Hands Up (2014)

It’s Throw Ya Hands Up time people as Mr Jimi Needles opens the year in a blaze of party bootleg glory that blurs the lines between hip-hop and house. No don’t say it! Gahhh – ‘hip-house’ – you said it. Now everyone’s thinking of some fallen-off rapper phoning in a couple of bars for a David Guetta beat whereas this sits somewhere between the breakbeat hip-house of the nineties (Def Jef anyone?) and those AV8 hip-hop party bootlegs. So successful has this badboy been in Needles’ sets, in fact, that it’ll be on sale via his bandcamp page shortly. Of course, if you’re reading this, you’ve obviously got your finger on the pulse and can cop it for free, early, courtesy of Jimi himself HERE. Hip-house, hooray! Don’t hang around though – who knows how long it’ll be there for? Gotta be in it to win it right?
