FORT KNOX FIVE: DC’s Finest Volume 1

FORT KNOX FIVE: DC's Finest Vol. 1Fort Knox Five haven’t been sat on their hands during lockdown and in their munificence are shortly to be re-releasing Volume 1 of DC’s Finest, a collection of their mash-ups, remixes and edits from 2006-2008 at a ‘name your price’ rate. Which makes it perfect for all those whose income has been affected as a consequence of various governments’ failure to follow-up basic pandemic procedure. The album is a fourteen-strong set and features some certified floor-fillers.  Identifying the finest among these is a hard pick given that among the inclusions is excellent Lauryn Hill/ Latyrx mash Lauryn Don’t Tek No and the equally excellent Average White Band/ Jurassic 5 mash Average White Five.  Also in the running are the filthily funky For What It’s Worth which splices Buffalo Springfield’s For What It’s Worth with The Bar-Kays’ Son Of Shaft and pretty straight but rock solid beat-boosted edits of The Specials’ A Message To You Rudy and Reggie Stepper’s Drum Pan Sound – any one of which could send your soundsystem up in smoke! Word on the street is, that Vols. 3 and 4 are all set to follow. Cop it HERE from tomorrow.
