Yet more reggae from the Original Gravity label and rather than the more usual ‘boss’ ‘sound of ’69’, this one heads in an afro-rootsy direction – at least on the A-side with Umoza Music Projects’s Down By The Beach conjuring visions of beach shacks and palm trees. Un-seasonal as that it is, it’s arguably a highly welcome distraction from yet another Covid-Christmas of government
corruption and social distancing and frankly – who doesn’t want to think of good times? Over on the flip, Woodfield Road Allstars’ mellow Ghetto Guitar provides an instrumental take on a massively famous reggae classic channeling things through a seventies sound that includes a yacht-rockish bit of fretwork and again ensures that the mind isn’t Penn-ed in (thank you I’m here all week!) by miserable thoughts.
