It’s another team-up between Bristol jazzbos The Jazz Defenders and London emcee Doc Brown for Rolling On A High b/w Looking Back on a 45 recalling the glory days of 90s jazzy hip-hop. First up is Rolling On A High extolling that feeling of being your best self and right in the pocket. The bars are underpinned by a piano, organ and horns-laced groove and damn does that snare drum crack! On the flipside, it’s time to break out the brushes along with the piano again for the more chilled groove that is Looking Back. What’s up on this one Doc? Ah you’re ‘looking back’ – as in reflecting on your life, yeah? We all do it. Still if it sounds this good despite everything, you get a warm glow don’t you? Some strings at the end, yeah? Lovely.
