When you find out that The Filthy Six’s latest single is a break-up track, the title, Exit Music, makes perfect sense. For added darkness it was written in the depths of winter too. Imagine that, breaking up in the depths of winter. Nightmare. So it’s only natural too that Exit Music should be bossa-tinged Latin jazz, redolent of summery drives down Pacific Coast Highway. Wait, what?! Yep that’s right. And frankly the monkey admires any mind that can conjure up Californian coastal warmth in the midst of personal misery and a freezing-ass London winter. Coincidentally, Exit Music is also highly topical at the moment for range of reasons political, cultural and seasonal and how better to assuage those negative feelings than to shimmy along to this.
