RAYE COLE/ RACHEL MAXANN: Find Myself Another Man (Vinyl 7″)

Just to clarify – this is two different covers of the same track, Sonny Williamson’s obscure blues number Find Another Woman, but instead of being sung by a man about a woman, it’s now sung by two different women about a man. Presumably not the same man, but you never know. On the A-side, you’ll find an uptmepo mid-sixties style R&B heater with St Louis singer Raye Cole doing her best Etta James on it. Flip things over and you’ll find Rachel Maxann deliver an early sixties style groover that comes on like a moody Green Onions. Double dancefloor action? It’s an Original Gravity label hallmark.
