Is it gypsy music? Is it Latin-influenced breaks? Is it reggae? Is it ska? Nomade Orquestra’s Casa Da Arvore would have you scratching your head a bit if you weren’t so busy having a shimmy to the Brazilian outfit’s hypnotic blend of all the above influences. That’ll be Vol. 5 in Little Beat More Records’ 45 series Veggie Tales which those in the know will be aware always come with a sticker and a (veggie) cooking tip. This one features a cauliflower on the cover so I’m betting whatever the cooking tip is (pakora perhaps?) – it’s gonna make you fart. Mind you, that’s entirely appropriate given the synth bass at about 45 seconds in. On the flip, Umoja’s Jo Bissa is on hand with an equally exotic remix that plies a heavier if less farty bass route.
