Straight from Kid Acne’s excellent LP from the end of ’23, Hauntology Codes, comes his tribute to 90s comedy duo Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, or rather a certain catchphrase from their comedy quiz show Shooting Stars, Eranu/ Uvavu. Not that Vic ever said them together of course – they were responses to answers given depending on whether the answer was correct or incorrect. But which was which? Can’t you remember? But we digress, shouldn’t we be focussing on our Kid’s mythology-referencing stream of consciousness rhymes? Eranu! The beat, courtesy of Spectacular Diagnostics, is typical of his lo-fi psychedelia and perfect as a backdrop to rhymes that are happy to weave references to hi-vis in with mentions of Dionysis and the road to Eleusis. But isn’t that a bit jarring? Uvavu! It’s a perfect juxtaposition of the profane and the divine for which Kid Acne is famed.
