Concrete Jungle forms an interesting left turn for the Hamburg-based band Angels Of Libra after their recent soul-based collaborations with Nathan Johnston and Maiiar as they team-up with Boston MC and singer Joél Davíd to righteously skewer corruption and hypocrisy in the twenty-first century. The Angels provide a darkly psychedelic backdrop pitting portentous guitar chops, fuzz and feedback over skeletal percussion while Davíd delivers equally portentous rapped verse and the type of sung hook that would sound equally at home on a roots reggae track. What about a video? Davíd declaiming from an urban rooftop, a subway train, an alley and alone in a noirish flat? Yep – that should do it!
