Estonian ‘Band of the Year 2023’ and ‘Debut Album of the Year 2023’ winners Gram-Of-Fun get single Complicated Plant remixed by Australia-to-Portugal transplant (no pun intended) Jafunk here on the first 2024 spring release from the Funk Embassy label. Difficult to know what our JF has done to the original since it’s not the easiest thing to track down but the monkey can tell you that this release is a throbbing slice of nu-disco-ey shenanigans. Punctuated by synth washes and pitch-bending vamps, the groove features a laid-back lead female vocal gently soaring atop a pulsing four-to-the floor beat. All very summery and it’s easy to see why this lot got a gig supporting Jungle on a recent tour.
