Colemine Record’s Ghost Funk Orchestra head To The Moon on their new single – the almost title track of forthcoming album A Trip To The Moon and sound like they might have dosed themselves to get there such is the authenticity of this one’s channeling of sixties soundtrack music. Opening with a sample of Apollo 11 audio messages to ground control, the track rapidly opens out into big band horns and the sort of sixties orchestration once the province of such composers as Quincey Jones or Eddie Palmieri. The first cut to be lifted off the album, this one is apparently indicative of the new direction by bandleader Seth Applebaum which the PR Blah reveals also makes heavy use of analog keyboards and surf guitar elsewhere on the LP.
