WHATITDO ARCHIVE GROUP: The Black Stone Affair (Main Theme)

WHATITDO ARCHIVE GROUP: The Black Stone Affair (Main Theme)More sixties/ seventies soundtrack thrills from Whatitdo Archive Group with the single release of The Black Stone Affair (Main Theme) – a.k.a. the title track to their recent and excellent The Black Stone Affair LP purporting to be the long-lost soundtrack to a long destroyed spaghetti western-cum-giallo movie. The track in question opens the LP too and pays homage to the sort of thing Roy Budd, Lalo Schifrin and Alessandro Alessandroni used to knock out. How to publicise such news the video teaser though? Well the band’s video director has either gone to the next level of pastiching spaghetti western footage, or stitched together a montage of actual spaghetti western footage, or stitched together actual and pastiched footage – but whichever it is, the teaser has got the vibe on lockdown. It’s like Sartana, Ringo and Cjmango wandering through events on Bullet For The General and Death Rides A Horse – and I should know because until the end of lockdown, Friday night was ‘spaghetti western’ night at Monkeyboxing Towers.
