CLAUDIO CORONA: Glamourpuss

London-based Italian keyboardist and producer Claudio Corona comes correct on his new single with a slice of very seventies cinematic funk entitled Glamourpuss. The PR says the title is intended to evoke a scene from a ’70s movie car chase…but with heels.’ Not sure the tempo is fast enough for a car chase and rather calls to mind a scenario in which some sort of heist is under way and the female lead is carrying out some sort of interference-running role with fluid perfection. Well, it is the seventies. The groove is keyboard powered – Hammond, Rhodes and Clavinet and the rhythm (in which Corona is ably assisted by Soulive’s Alan Evans on drums) has a bouncing Steve Wonder-ish feel about it. A full album, Imagination Unlimited drops on 17 May this year.
