Fancy some psychedelic funk? On L’Etrange, the Mocambo Electric Sound Orchestra supply a gritty backbeat and appropriate guitar antics while Caroline Lacaze supplies a wistful French language vocal. L’Etrange, of course, means ‘strange.’ My French unfortunately doesn’t stretch far enough for a complete translation of the lyrics but let’s just say that references to ‘ennui’ suggest that Lacaze is not very happy about something. Probably something strange. But you’d get that from the moody black and white video anyway in which the singing Lacaze is occasionally molested by a ghost with a marker pen and occasional access to her mic flex. Well, that would be enough to do anyone’s head in.
