Next up from The Allergies ahead of what looks to be an autumn album release comes new single Resistance featuring rapper Knytro who (you may recall) graced the mic on 2013 Chase & Status cut Gangsta Boogie. And yes, it is another of those cuts on which the Bristol duo explore contemporary rather than retro sounds. Admittedly, this one does contain a back-in-the-day psych-rock sample to add a suitably epic widescreen feel but it’s stylistically dominated by its newfangled trap-adjacent beat and Knytro’s staccato delivery – all of which combine to yell ‘stadium-filler’ at listeners. Meanwhile the hook – ‘resistance’ – is one the ‘many’ can get behind in these benighted times when the ‘few’ appear to be operating beyond all moral, political and legal restraint.
