CARLO PES CON I MARC 4: The Riff b/w Bossa Party (Vinyl 7″)

And you thought it was just one slab of Italian crime funk getting a release on vinyl 7″ on Four Flies Records in the last few days. Not so, it turns out – for here is Carlo Pes and his outfit I Marc 4 with The Riff and Bossa Party to go with the Gianni Marchetti 45. Both cuts are from Franco Prosperi’s 70s flick Un Uomo Dalla Pelle Dura a.k.a. The Boxer a.k.a. Ripped-Off but they only appeared on library LP Meedley (sic) as opposed to the original OST on Pegaso/RCA. The Riff does indeed contain an organ riff but it’s less this than the furious funk drum break that characterises it. Wisely realising that no-one can handle two lots of that much funk at any one time, the side B yields the mellow tropicalia thrills of Bossa Party ‘s bossa-jazz. This one’s a limited drop so best get your skates on.
(Out now on Four Flies Records)
