The Allergies next single has appeared and it’s this – Leave Me Alone feat. singer Aziza Jaye who popped up earlier in the year on Mungo’s Hi-Fi’s Lauryn Hill-cover That Thing. On this one, the Bristol duo go a bit newfangled and offer up something that pits funky hip-hop swagger against dancehall-style rhythm patterns with some shiny vocal polish from Jaye. As with the Afrobeats-tinged Koliko feat. K.O.G. on 2024’s Freak The Speaker LP this one shows once again that the boys aren’t averse to pushing the sonic envelope beyond good-time party boom-bap and funk – and who knows where that might lead? Could this be the one to make them as regular a fixture on Radio 1 as 6, for example?
