An already prolific release schedule notwithstanding, Echo Chamber Recordings has found time to launch new sub-label Echo Labs. Enter the debut release – a 45 – from Southside Sound Surgeons a.k.a. label boss Si Cheeba and his homie WeeG who finally get shit down on wax after years of djing together. It’s a game of two halves here with the uptempo b-boy-friendly Afro-Brazilian craziness of Hi-Jakarta making its way onto the A-side while the flip goes all golden era hip-hop. That’ll be Rockin’ Roots then which cuts up classic vocal loops over fat beats. Well – what else would it be? Both cuts build to a suitably crowd-pleasing climax so when you hear that this drop is strictly limited to 300 vinyl 7″s you realise it’s time to get your skates on what with pre-orders being available right now.
