A second helping of Latin bangers today but these are genuine back-in-the-day ones as Rocafort Records assembles a triple-vinyl box set of classics from the Colombian label Discos Fuentes. Turns out the six tracks compiled herein have all been considered classics on the Mexican sonidero (roughly translated as ‘soundsystem’) scene and will both appeal to those with a penchant for cumbia as well as developing a penchant for cumbia in those who hitherto lacked one. Relentlessly upbeat, any one of these cuts is pretty much guaranteed to rock the spot though the monkey’s favourites have to be Climaco Sarmiento Y Su Orquesta’s Cumbia Sabrosa (from which the collection takes its name) and possibly even better, Afrosound’s massive stomping banger Tiro Al Blanco. Liner notes on this one come from DJ Bongohead who also did the liner notes for Rocafort’s Latin Underground Revolution Vol. 3.
