Breakbeat Paradise continues to drop funky fire on the label’s vinyl 7″ series Toxic Funk and the latest one sees Umbo in the driving seat again with two righteous edits of old funk/soul cuts. Our man clearly rose to Betty Wright’s challenge on the sample source for A-side Save It by bringing his soul on over, boosting the bottom end boost and doing minor cosmetics here and there to render it club-fit for the 2020s. Then he repeats the trick on a lesser-known funky banger by Lonette McKee for Save It for the B-side. Edits sympathetic to the character of the originals but perfect if you want to cop doubles and really get busy on the cut without carving up your vintage vinyl. Don’t mind if I do. Cheers Umbo.
