Roots Organisation, aDUBta and The Black Oak Roots Allstars combine swing-era horns-rich melodies with rocksteady riddims on a full LP shortly entitled Caribbean Serenade. Before that though – here’s second single – Night Sway (digitally) backed with Dub Sway just as its predecessor found Coconut Split backed with Dub Split. And if you’re wondering if that swing/ rocksteady combo works, the answer is yes – nor is it as weird as it might sound. Check out certain original rocksteady cuts from back in the day like the Keith Blake’s Woo Oh Oh or even massive Phyllis Dillon banger Perfidia and you can hear they were already co-opting swing-era melodies then.
