Berry Geordie strikes again! Yep, that’s right, somehow Smoove’s gained access to yet more multi-track master recordings on Multitrack Reworks Vol. 15 – this time for a brace of late seventies disco classics – by Jean Carn (Was That All It Was) and Linda Clifford’s Runaway Love. As you’ll know by now, he’s not interested in departing from the original vibe on any of the cuts in this series but rather in sublimely enhancing them. Thus it is that the former builds much more slowly through those initial drums (and without the original’s cheesy laser sound effects) ultimately extending the original’s already expansive six and a half minutes to an epic nine minutes plus! Not to be outdone, by, well, himself, our man turns in an even longer edit of the latter. This one also opens with a heavy drum focus (as opposed to the beatless, Rhodes n’ dreamy humming of the original) and eventually takes things to heights normally only achieved in the minds of those inhaling white powder in the bogs of Studio 54.
