MRKBH & RICO JAMES: Lingchi

What a way to go eh? Lingchi, the Chinese torture-slash-(no pun intended)-execution method also known as ‘slow slicing’ or ‘death by a thousand cuts’ – used for over a thousand years and not banned until 1905, apparently. Now it’s also the name of this track – lifted from the Righteous Gemstones EP. On it you’ll find MRKBH appear to aim the threat of horrific bodily mutilation at a nameless adversary over Rico James’ deliberately incongruent boom-bap beat featuring a dreamy piano motif. It’s like a razor held in the velvet glove.
