Another welcome return here and this time it’s Melbourne-based Hammond-funk outfit Cookin’ On 3 Buners back with two different flavours of funk to announce that there’s a new album on the way. The A-side of this 45 is brisk instrumental Cookin’ The Books that pairs jazz-funky guitars and organ with a fat drum break and bassline. The monkey’s all over B-side Give A Little Bit More however – which finds singer Stella Angelico build on the warm funky soul of previous tracks with the band, such as Sweet Talker, with Give A Little Bit More. This one’s a tad slower than the aforementioned cut but has even more soul with a warm Memphis-style groove to it.
