A second slice of heavyweight hiphop on the Little Beat More label this autumn (following Whatafunk’s Hood Thangs-featuring Unlearn The World) is this brief (at just less than two minutes long) but nonetheless devastating banger Dr Cumbia featuring the indefatiguable Phill Most Chill. The ‘Cumbia’ part of the track name apparently derives from the sampled percussion that crops up just over the one minute mark, while the ‘Dr’ bit comes from a) our Phill lyrically railing against Big Pharma and b) the fact that his delivery over a such a hypnotic stripped back beat approaches the ritualistic style of a so-called witch doctor. Yo Phil – school ’em! “Deadly sins keep us medicated/ By a greedy industry that is isn’t regulated.” This is the second single to drop off Woxow’s forthcoming Tape Reset Vol. 2 EP and you can cop it on vinyl 7″ along with tracks Instead feat. John Bringwolves and Little Beat More.
