Blimey, has it already been two years since the birth of Echo Chamber Recordings? It seems it has and what better way to celebrate than with a new 45 from Cheeba’s Latin Bros who graced the label’s first release with Boogaloo Lessons 1 and 2 and now return with Boogaloo Lessons 7 and 8 – otherwise known as All The Kids In Harlem b/w Everybody in the Place. If you’re not already au fait with the formula, it goes a little something like this – the ‘brothers root through their crates of vintage Latin boogaloo, dig out the best samples and then cut n paste these together into super dancefoor-friendly ‘lessons’ (in a nod to Double Dee & Steinski’s hip-hop ‘lessons’) with extra bottom end heft. All The Kids In Harlem is the very slightly more uptempo cut on this one with more intense horns but the monkey’s favourite is the looser groove of Everybody In The Place on the flip. Only 300 copies on 7″ wax available worldwide it seems for this one since the label’s next few drops are already stacking up at the pressing plant!
