Soul Flip Edits 8? I think so! Incredibly, Gazeebo and Vanucci are back already with a new 7″, this time delivering blistering re-rubs of northern soul cuts on both sides. As always it’s an edit of a better known artist paired with one of someone marginally more obscure which, in this particular case, translates to flips of the mighty Otis Redding’s take on Your Love Has Lifted Me (Higher & Higher) along with Gerri Grainger’s I Go To Pieces Every Time. If you’ve caught previous Soul Flip 45s, you’ll know the ethic is all about extending old stuff to facilitate cutting and simultaneously beefing it up so it doesn’t sound weedy and lost in an eclectic set that also includes funk, hip-hop, disco, party breaks and the like whilst broadly maintaining the original sonic aesthetic. Not for the sort of people who talk between records and only handle wax wearing non-static gloves. You know who you are.
