MARCUS I MEETS ADUBTA: Heavy Manners

Forthcoming vinyl heat on F-Spot Records comes in the shape of this 45, Heavy Manners, from Marcus I meets aDUBta. The former is a singer on the southern French reggae scene while the latter is a producer from southern Germany and together they’ve joined forces to create material inspired by ’60s Studio One productions. The first example of this new work certainly represents for the sixties with a rocksteady riddim though it arguably represents the seventies a bit too (a combo giving it something of throwback sound of Freddie McGregor’s 1979 cut Bobby Bobylon) for the riddim features the ‘flying cymbal’ which was a stylistic motif of reggae in its first full decade. One thing’s for certain, the dancehall is certainly going to be under heavy manners when this hits the decks – bodily movement will be a requirement. Comes with the instrumental riddim version on the flip.
