More throwback French boom-bap from the Beats House Records camp as emcee DEF and producer Djar One deliver Boom-Back Vol. 2 the sequel to 2024’s Boom-Back Vol. 1. That’ll be six more late nineties-style boom-bap cuts on one side of the wax then with the instros on the flip. Beats range from the woozy jazziness of opener Miles Davis, through the bleak grit of Un Homme Public and soulfulness of On En Remande to the monkey’s favourite – the more b-boy friendly Insolents which features Melan and recalls DJ Krush’s more uptempo work from the early-to-mid 90s, albeit with les emcees Français in tow. There are only 100 vinyl copies so get your skates on because Boom-Back Vol. 1 sold out long ago and there’ll be no re-presses!
