FUNKOSOL BEATS: Booty Bangers Vol. 1 & 2 (2014)

Booty Bangers FunkosolIt’s that little red and blue capsule symbol and you know what that means right? It means your latest dose of Funkosol booties! Or in this case your latest two doses since the label (or rather this ‘Beats’ imprint) is apparently putting stuff out faster than they can send it to those on their PR list. Vol. 1 of new series Booty Bangers opens with a ‘What-the-fuck?’ breakbeat version of George Michael’s I Want Your Sex, followed appropriately by a funky rework of Diana Ross’s I’m Coming Out
(and a bit of Biggie’s Mo Money Mo Problems which sampled it), a breaks rework of KC & The Sunshine Band, a breaks number using the rap off Indeep’s Last Night A DJ Saved My Life and some 80s soul and finally jiggys around at the end with Will Smith and House Of Pain. Vol. 2 on the other hand opens with a nufunky take on Sly & The Family Stone’s ‘most slap-bass’, busts a groove with Young MC, takes the party line with Skyy, finds love in a nufunked 80s stylee and Dirrrty‘s up the breaks with Christina. But who’s responsible for all this? They ain’t saying. “If anyone asks, you ain’t seen me. Right?”
