X-RAY TED feat. FULLEE LOVE: I Been Good

X-Ray Ted has very much found his niche in the last couple of years – to wit, delivering twenty-first century party-breakbeat-friendly funk. Funk being a broad church, this could mean many things but our Ted’s brand usually gives a strong nod to the southern soul and funk of late 60s/early 70s America and is frequently fuelled by beats crafted from samples of said period too. New single I Been Good featuring Fullee Love (a.k.a Jurassic 5’s Soup) is no exception and not only serves as a stylistic sequel to XRT’s recent Carys Abigail-featuring, Clarence Murray-sampling Dance With Me but also to Boogie by label mates Shaka Loves You from all the way back in 2018 which also featured Love and a Nola-funk sample. For this one, it’s Johnny Moore who provides the source for the beat while Love brings the good time ‘I survived the toxic relationship’ lyrical vibes. Is there an X-Ray Ted album on the way? You know there is – and hopefully more 45 action too!
