Next from The Scribes is this collab. with Vice Beats and Donnie Numeric, Focus – taken from their forthcoming Totem Trilogy Pt 2 EP. As is not uncommon with these guys there is an air of trippiness to proceedings – captured on the video by Lloyd Ashman Media which opens with rapper Ill Literate waking up like some sort of Frankenrapper before this scene fades to fellow wordsmith Jonny Steele. Of course, this being The Scribes, there’s a British-ness to the trippiness and the suburban house/ garden settings and lo-fi SFX lend the whole thing a Rentaghost atmosphere – not that many people will get that reference. Still, Rentaghost was dope so that casts no shade whatsoever to this relatively slo-mo slice of boom-bap with its catchy hook.
