No, it’s not the new Allergies LP just yet but it is the title track – Freak The Speaker featuring Andy Cooper. Like this one, the three previous singles to be lifted ahead of the album have fallen under the umbrella of hip-hop, even if the soul influence was heavy on the Dynamite MC-featuring One Time and the duo expanded their sonic comfort zone to include Afrobeat influences on the K.O.G.-featuring Koliko. This one’s immediate predecessor found Ohmega Watts deliver bars over some heavyweight 90s-style boom-bap on No Flash and that’s a stylistic description you’d apply to Freak The Speaker too though the beat is more dancefloor, the lyrics more playful courtesy of (former Ugly Duckling and regular Allergies cohort) Andy Cooper which together make the vibe more upbeat. In short, just what the doctor ordered!
