STRO ELLIOT: Monday’s Generation

The Def Pressé label continues its partnership with library label KPM and the shared project of letting respected producers loose in the KPM vaults to dig for samples and then releasing the results. Now on the fourth such LP, this time around it’s the turn of The Roots member Stro Elliot to shoot his shots. The LP he’s created for the project is called La Villa and the first single off it is this – Monday’s Generation. Kicking off with crisp syncopated drums it provides layered percussion and a jaunty melange of non-lyric female vocal, flute and jangly guitar by way of a topline. Perfect for chilling by the pool or in hazy late afternoon sunshine – shame the mercury has just dropped in the northern hemisphere. Still, you’ll be thinking cocktails and sunshine and that’s half the battle.
