SOUL FLIP EDITS 17: B-A-B-Y/ Can I Get A Witness (Vinyl 7″)

Aaaannd for the second Soul Flip 45 outing since October’s re-brand, it’s this: flips of Carla Thomas’ ’66 hit B-A-B-Y (penned by Isaac Hayes, no less) and Barbara Randolph’s ’68 cover of Marvin’s Holland-Dozier-Holland Can I Get A Witness. The former edit comes from the label’s now sole – or should that be ‘soul’ – (thanks, I’m here all week!) head honcho Del Gazeebo while the guest edit comes from Umbo. It seems this one side ‘resident’/ one side guest might be the usual Soul Flip 7″ release format moving forward too – as opposed to either DG or the guest(s) taking charge of the whole release. Expect all the extra breakbeat and bass leverage, extended sections plus DJ-friendly intros and outros that are a hallmark of SF releases and add yet another certified pair of bangers to your bag!
