DURAND JONES & THE INDICATIONS: Too Many Tears b/w Cruisin’ To The Parque (Vinyl 7″)

Did someone say lowrider soul? Say hello to the new Durand Jones & The Indications 45 which features Too Many Tears b/w Cruisin’ To The Parque. The former is taken from the band’s third LP, American Love Call, and opens with the lounge-est of beats and xylophone tinkles while Aaron Frazer regales the listener with a tale of heartbreak. Flip it over and it’s all about Cruisin’ To The Parque – more of the same sort of thing musically but this time with lyrics about – well – cruising to the park, a veritable lowrider soul anthem! You can imagine the video – lots of lowriders driven by tattooed cholos with their ladies in the late afternoon sunshine – waaaiiiittt a minute, that was the video from, like, four years ago when a 45 single got released that featured two tracks called – er – Cruisin’ To The Parque and Too Many Tears! So what’s new on this one, vato? Well, the A and the B side tracks have swapped and the label art is different – which I guess gives you a second chance to cop it if you missed it the first time.
(Out 17 November on Colemine Records)
