DOVE: After All The Rain Has Gone (Vinyl 7″)

Miss this to your eternal regret. This? Why? Well, it’s often said that such and such a singer has a voice like someone from back in the day but that won’t at all prepare you for that fact that when you hear Dove belt out the two cuts on this new 45 you’ll leap up and down screaming ‘OMG – she’s got a voice like someone back in the day!’ So like all those other singers who people say sound like old soul singers only more so. Incidentally this is not just Dove’s debut single but the first single on new Daptone imprint Deena. Now the penny drops. The Daptone connection – of course. For who better to cultivate such a voice and ensure it gets the production it needs. After All the Rain Has Gone is the Ike & Tina-esque bluesy slo-mo stomp but it’s liable to be B-side Grind On that tickles your fancy most with it’s blistering uptempo funky soul assault.
